Congratulations to Lead Author Mohammad Vasef and the UNM Pathology team that has produced a new edition of Diagnostic Pathology: Molecular Oncology.

The 939 page textbook includes contributions from current department faculty Devon Chabot-Richards, David Czuchlewski, Joshua Hanson, Edgar Fischer, Samuel Reynolds, Nancy Joste, Rama Gullapalli, Kathy Foucar, Carla Wilson, Qian-Yun Zhang, Von Samedi, and Karen SantaCruz, as well as colleagues Therese Bocklage, Lesley Lomo, Mark Barry, Durga Cherukuri, Kaari Reichard, and Rania Bakkar.

Former UNM trainees Kristin Karner, Eric Loo, Jo Conant, Giovanni Insuasti-Beltran, Carmen Frias Kletecka, and Amer Mahmoud also contributed.

As can be seen from this list, the book is truly an achievement for our entire department, and as such it highlights our deep expertise in this area.

Diagnostic Pathology: Molecular Oncology received a 2016 British Medical Association (BMA) award: Highly Commended Pathology. The second edition provides updated information on the molecular pathogenesis of tumors including gene mutation profiles in hematopoietic neoplasms and solid tumors, and covers recent timely topics such as targeted therapies, changes in tumor classification, and next generation sequencing.
