Fellowships: Hematopathology Fellowship

Welcome to the University of New Mexico Hematopathology Fellowship! Our training program instills diagnostic excellence through a team-oriented approach to challenging cases. We are an academic practice based at TriCore Reference Laboratories, where we also perform and interpret all the ancillary testing necessary to support a contemporary hematopathology service, including 10-color flow cytometry and comprehensive cytogenetic and molecular offerings with in-house next generation sequencing for myeloid and other neoplasms. Our fellows are at the very heart of our service. They take graduated responsibility for working up and managing all of our cases, including our large volume of challenging and educational national consult cases. They are surrounded by an outstanding team of attending physicians, laboratory technologists, and contributing staff members, all working in close and collegial cooperation. At graduation, our fellows are confident hematopathologists with expertise in all aspects of the discipline, especially the integration of morphologic findings with molecular, cytogenetic, and flow cytometric data. Our fellows are highly sought after and go on to successful academic and private practice careers across the nation. During their time here, they also take full advantage of our uniquely beautiful state to ski, snowboard, hike, run, and otherwise explore the Four Corners region. We are confident that if you select UNM for your hematopathology fellowship, it will be the most enjoyable and fulfilling year of your academic medical training.
