Flow Cytometry Service

Overview

The Flow Cytometry Laboratory at TriCore Reference Laboratories, in collaboration with the Department of Pathology at UNM, provides testing for hematologic disorders, immune status, and CD34 stem cell quantification. All testing in the flow cytometry laboratory is performed by an expert technical staff with appropriate pathologist case review and consultation. The Flow Cytometry Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Highlights

  • Six-color flow cytometric analysis
    • Screening panels (monoclonality, blasts)
    • Limited flow cytometry panels targeted to specific disease types
    • Follow-up testing for abnormalities identified on limited panels, promotes cost-effective service
    • Pathologist review of cytospin preparation for all specimens
  • Rapid turnaround time
    • All testing completed in 24 hours
    • Telephone calls provided to referring physicians on positive cases
  • Flow cytometry panels provided for adult and pediatric patients
    • Acute leukemia panel; B-cell lymphoproliferative/CLL panel; T-cell lymphoproliferative panel; plasma cell myeloma (multiple myeloma) panel; Sézary panel; T-LGL panel
    • Ultra-sensitive PNH testing on peripheral blood specimens
    • Immunodeficiency panels for immune status, immune deficiency disorders
    • CD34 stem cell quantification on peripheral blood and leukophoresis specimens
  • Technical flow cytometry offered

  • Flow cytometry service works in collaboration with our hematopathology clinical service, cytogenetic, and molecular laboratories to provide comprehensive assessments
